Carnival Cruise Line Announces New Red, White and Blue Hull Design Across Fleet

Following the popularity of the stunning red, white and blue livery adorning Mardi Gras, another Carnival Cruise Line ship will soon receive the dramatic hull design that will become a trademark feature across the fleet as Carnival, America’s Cruise Line, prepares to celebrate its 50th birthday in 2022.

 

Carnival Magic will be the first ship to receive the new livery during its current dry dock in Marseilles, France. 

 

Paying homage to maritime tradition and patriotic colors, the eye-catching hull design is highlighted by a stately navy blue hull inspired by officers’ uniforms along with vibrant red and white accents running the entire length of the 1,004-foot-long ship.  Additional vessels will receive the new livery as they undergo scheduled dry docks.  Carnival Glory will be the second ship to receive the new hull design during a dry dock scheduled in June.   

 

“When we first saw the hull design for Mardi Gras, we knew it was something special and, particularly as we get ready to celebrate our 50th birthday, we’re delighted to incorporate this stunning livery as a signature exterior design element across our fleet,” said Christine Duffy, president of Carnival Cruise Line.  “As we look to resume sailing in the U.S., we’re coming back with a signature new look as well!”

 

In addition to the new livery, Carnival Magic will emerge from its dry dock on May 24 with an expanded casino with an even greater variety of slots and other games, as well as a host of enhancements including freshening up the finishes for the WaterWorks aqua park and pools.

Carnival Cruise Line, Federal Maritime Commission, Galveston Officials Participate in Cruise Restart Rally At Port of Galveston

In a unified showing of support to encourage the resumption of cruising in the U.S., Carnival Cruise Line joined members of the Federal Maritime Commission, Galveston city and port officials and local businesses at the Port of Galveston to highlight the economic impact of cruising in Galveston and throughout Texas.

The Port of Galveston at the Galveston Wharves is the fourth most popular cruise homeport in North America and the only cruise port in Texas. Galveston’s cruise business generates $1.6 billion in expenditures annually and 27,000 jobs statewide.

With Carnival Breeze and Carnival Vista providing a stunning backdrop, speakers described the dramatic effect that the 14-month pause in operations has had on local businesses that rely so heavily on the cruise industry.  Speakers included:

Underscoring the cruise line’s strong desire to resume operations, crew members from Carnival Vista and Carnival Breeze received COVID-19 vaccinations on site from the University of Texas Medical Branch at Galveston.

“Today was yet another significant milestone in our efforts to resume cruising in the U.S.,” said Duffy.  “We’ve said all along that we would like the cruise industry be given equal treatment of other travel and hospitality companies and this event sent a strong and unified message that we need to start sailing again.”

Carnival Cruise Line Celebrates National Travel Advisor Day with Special Event and Loyalty Rocks! Rewards

In honor of National Travel Advisor Day May 5 which coincides with the United States Travel Association’s (USTA) National Travel and Tourism Week through May 8, Carnival Cruise Line is celebrating the important role of travel advisors with a special edition of From Adolfo’s Desk LIVE, an exclusive rewards points offer for advisors, and a new Travel Agent Rocks toolkit.

Carnival Breeze, Carnival Vista Arrive in Galveston in Advance of Cruise Rally at Port Tomorrow

Two of Carnival Cruise Line’s Galveston-based ships – Carnival Breeze and Carnival Vista – arrived at the Port of Galveston earlier today in anticipation of a cruise rally at the port on Monday to discuss the economic impact of the 14-month pause in operations.

Carnival President Christine Duffy and Galveston Mayor Dr. Craig Brown will be among the speakers at the event that is hosted by the Federal Maritime Commission (FMC) which will be represented by FMC Commissioners Louis E. Sola and Carl W. Bentzel.  Galveston port and community officials as well as local business leaders will be on hand as well.

Carnival Cruise Line launched the first year-round cruise program from Galveston in 2000 and is the only cruise operator with three year-round ships based at the Port of Galveston, carrying roughly 750,000 guests annually.

Walking on Sunshine – Carnival President Christine Duffy Visits First Carnival Cruise Line Ship Since Pause in Operations

For the first time since the cruise industry’s pause in guest operations in March 2020, Carnival President Christine Duffy today went on board one of the company’s ships, Carnival Sunshine.

The team of Carnival Sunshine, which was docked at PortMiami’s Terminal E, provided Christine a warm welcome as she met with senior officers, toured the ship with Captain Leonardo Contarino, Chief Engineer Dinko Biskupovic and Hotel Director Steve Scandale, and engaged with the crew members who are on board providing essential services to maintain the vessel and preparing for the company’s eventual return to service.

“Ship visits are one of the favorite parts of my job and it was really wonderful seeing and interacting with the Carnival Sunshine team who were excellent hosts.  Hopefully this is the first of many ship visits and a clear indication that we’re on the road back to restarting operations,” said Duffy.

“The crew truly enjoyed seeing Christine in person – it was a most welcome moment for all.  More than anything, we can’t wait to begin service again to provide our guests with wonderful vacation memories,” said Captain Contarino.

On Earth Day, Carnival Cruise Line Releases Video Showcasing Eco-Friendly LNG Fuel Technology Utilized on Two Ships

In conjunction with Earth Day, Carnival Cruise Line today released a new video, “LNG Powers the Fun,” highlighting the many environmental benefits of Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG), a groundbreaking fuel technology that will be utilized on two new ships, Mardi Gras, set to debut later this year from Port Canaveral, Fla., and Carnival Celebration, scheduled to enter service from PortMiami in 2022.

Working closely with the Meyer Turku shipyard in Finland, its energy and technology partner, Shell, the teams at Port Canaveral and PortMiami, and a host of other parties, Carnival is the first cruise line to  bring LNG to North America on these two 180,000-ton Excel-class ships, its newest and most innovative vessels.

Mardi Gras and Carnival Celebration are among nine Excel-class ships from Carnival Corporation to employ this eco-friendly fuel, one of the cleanest in the world, significantly reducing emissions with cleaner exhaust.

The video explains how LNG works and why it’s a game changer, while detailing the various new technologies and processes, both on board and on shore, necessary for LNG propulsion, everything from engine designs, fuel containment systems, and the accompanying new engine parts to comprehensive training for shipboard officers and engineers.

New terminal facilities were built at Port Canaveral and are under construction at PortMiami.  Shell has chartered the state-of-the-art QLNG 4000 fuel barge to facilitate bunkering Mardi Gras while Port Canaveral has also acquired a purpose-built fire boat to support the LNG provider’s tug.

LNG is part of Carnival’s comprehensive sustainability and environmental efforts to reduce energy consumption and its environmental footprint, underscoring its commitment to preserving and protecting water, air and land resources.  These efforts also include advanced waste water treatment systems, advanced air quality systems, shore power connection capabilities, and comprehensive waste management, recycling and energy conservation programs, complementing many initiatives to reduce single-use plastics on board.

Carnival Cruise Line Rolls out Cruise-Themed Version of Popular ‘Family Feud’ Board Game

Let’s play Feud! In anticipation of Family Feud Live!’s debut on the new Mardi Gras later this year, Carnival Cruise Line has introduced a new cruise-themed version of the popular Family Feud board game, available at its on-line retail store, https://shop.carnival.com/.

Inspired by the hit television show, Family Feud: Carnival Edition introduces a fun new spin to the popular game with more than 150 questions to test player’s knowledge of The World’s Most Popular Cruise Line and seagoing vacations in general. In Honor of 49th Birthday, Carnival Cruise Line Guests List The 49 Moments They Miss About Cruising

Today marks Carnival Cruise Line’s 49th birthday and the start of the countdown to the Big 5-0.

In honor of its 49th birthday, the line asked fans to help rate the “Top 49 Moments Guests Miss About Cruising.”  The results, of course, included many signature “Fun Ship” experiences like taking a spin on the SkyRide aerial attraction and savoring the line’s legendary Warm Chocolate Melting Cake or a hand-crafted burger at Guy’s Burger Joint.
