Building upon its extensive array of tools to keep travel advisors informed and engaged, Carnival Cruise Line is launching “From the Funnel,” a series of webcasts hosted by the line’s business development directors from across North America.

The “From the Funnel” event schedule will be posted on GoCCL.com with a variety of sessions for advisors from which to choose.  The BDM hosts will focus on a new topic every other month, ensuring content is always fresh and relevant for travel advisors.   Upcoming sessions include tips for effective sales and marketing strategies, creative business development opportunities, inspiration and motivational tools, along with regional updates and “must know” facts impacting travel advisors and their clients in their area.

‘Mini CFO’ Version of Carnival CFO Shaquille O’Neal Debuts to Promote Short Cruise Offerings

Known for his larger-than-life personality as Carnival Cruise Line’s Chief Fun Officer (CFO), Shaquille O’Neal now has a tiny sidekick, “Mini CFO,” who makes his debut in a creative new digital marketing campaign to promote the line’s short cruise offerings.

Through a series of engaging videos and digital media, the NBA Hall of Famer and his pocket-sized counterpart playfully highlight the convenience and affordability of Carnival’s array of three- to five-day voyages.  One of the 15-second online videos can be viewed here.

“Cruising is the best vacation around and Team Carnival is hard at work getting ready to sail again when the time is right. And my new pint-sized sidekick is the perfect way to let everyone know all the fun they can have on a Carnival cruise,” O’Neal said.

Carnival is the leader in short cruises, with departures from homeports along the East and West Coasts and the Gulf of Mexico.  Roughly half of Carnival’s fleet operates short cruise itineraries that visit top destinations in The Bahamas and Mexico, as well as private destinations such as Half Moon Cay and Princess Cays.

Fans looking for a new way to remember their Carnival cruise at home – or better yet, imagine a future vacation when cruising resumes – can now enjoy Monopoly Carnival Fun Edition, a cruise-themed version on the classic board game.

The signature elements of the self-described “Fast Dealing Property Game” game are all there but with a unique twist with 28 popular Carnival Cruise Line features and attractions, including  BOLT, the first roller coaster at sea, Cherry on Top, Lido Marketplace, and JavaBlue Café, serving as landing spots for players.  Each of the spaces have a designated value and players purchase these properties with money emblazoned with the line’s iconic funnel.  There are also Cruise Director Announcements and Funnel Chest Cards with challenges and directions for players while game pieces appropriately enough include a cruise ship.

On National Pizza Day, Carnival Cruise Line Reveals Additional Details on Italian-Themed La Piazza Zone on New Mardi Gras

On National Pizza Day, Carnival Cruise Line today revealed additional details on La Piazza, a stunning Italian-themed zone on its newest ship, Mardi Gras, set to debut in May.

Inspired by Italy’s unique culture and delicious culinary offerings, La Piazza will be home to a variety of new food and beverage outlets, as well as expanded versions of longtime Carnival favorites.

Designed to resemble a stroll through an Italian courtyard with red brick, street lights and ornate iron and tile work, as well as murals of famous piazzas in Rome, Venice and other Italian cities, La Piazza also features fun, “Insta-worthy” touches like a Vespa scooter and a Fiat – both from 1972, the year of Carnival Cruise Line’s founding with the original Mardi Gras – positioned along the promenade.

New spaces include Bar della Rosa inspired by the country’s charming cafes with classic cocktails like the Bellini, Aperol Spritz and Negroni, a wide selection of Italian red and white wines, and prosecco, along with espressos, macchiatos and other caffeinated choices. There’s also Piazza Panini with hand-pressed sandwiches like Salumeria stuffed with capicola, prosciutto, salami, provolone and roasted peppers, as well as the Peppe featuring mortadella, provolone, mozzarella, tomatoes and spicy olives.  A number of deli favorites and desserts are offered as well.

Mardi Gras will feature the largest Cucina del Capitano in the fleet with a menu of Italian favorites and a diverse wine list with selections that include Zonin Soave and Batasiolo Barolo, all enhanced by a décor featuring historical photos, artwork and memorabilia from Carnival’s officers, highlighted by colorful oil paintings of the Mardi Gras and its namesake vessel that established Carnival Cruise Line in 1972.  Pizzeria del Capitano offering five varieties of freshly baked artisanal pizzas by the pie or by the slice available 24 hours a day, has also been expanded just for Mardi Gras.  La Piazza’s delicious culinary offerings can be enjoyed inside at tables along the promenade or al fresco on the Lanai.

La Piazza is one of six themed zones on Mardi Gras which also features The French Quarter, Grand Central, The Lido, Summer Landing, and The Ultimate Playground, home to BOLT, the first roller coaster at sea.

The first ship in North America powered by Liquified Natural Gas (LNG), Mardi Gras is scheduled to debut from Port Canaveral, Fla., May 29, 2021, operating week-long itineraries.

PortMiami and Carnival Cruise Line Break Ground on Terminal F, Future Home of Carnival Celebration

Carnival Cruise Line and PortMiami today held a groundbreaking ceremony for the expansion of the state-of-the-art Terminal F which will serve as the homeport of Carnival Celebration, the line’s next Excel-class ship.

Currently under construction in Finland, Carnival Celebration is set to debut in 2022, as part of the line’s 50th birthday festivities.

Miami-Dade Mayor Daniella Levine Cava and Carnival President Christine Duffy, along with county commissioners and construction partners, used ceremonial shovels to officially mark the beginning of construction on the expansive 471,000-square-foot facility which will be Carnival’s third terminal at the port and its largest in South Florida.

Carnival Cruise Line got its start when the original “Fun Ship,” the TSS Mardi Gras, departed on its inaugural voyage from PortMiami in March 1972, starting a nearly 50-year relationship that has seen Carnival grow to become the World’s Most Popular Cruise Line and PortMiami earn the distinction as The Cruise Capital of the World.

“I’m grateful to Carnival Cruise Line and Lemartec for their partnership with Miami-Dade County,” said Mayor Levine Cava.  “Despite the global pandemic, today’s groundbreaking is another example of the growth happening at PortMiami – The Cruise Capital of the World – and how together, we can and we will continue to thrive.”

“Both Lemartec and MasTec, like Carnival Cruise Line, are the classic American dream story, born in Miami. We are proud to have been chosen by PortMiami and Miami-Dade County to build this iconic terminal,” said Manny García-Tuñón, President of Lemartec Corporation, a MasTec Company, which is serving as the general contractor.

The terminal’s clean and open design by will allow for exceptional efficiency and flexibility to accommodate Carnival’s newest class of ships, maximizing use of technology to move guests through the embarkation process, providing a seamless boarding experience.

Carnival Celebration will offer a variety of innovations including an onboard roller coaster as well as a Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) propulsion system, part of Carnival Corporation’s “green cruising platform.”  The ship will also offer a wide range of accommodation categories with 180 suites across 11 different categories, along with unique innovations created just for this vessel.

 

Carnival Cruise Line to Maintain Travel Advisor Commission Rates at Current Tiers Through 2022

In appreciation of travel advisors’ loyalty and commitment, Carnival Cruise Line today announced that it is honoring the commission tier each account earned in 2019 through 2022.

With this move, Carnival is ensuring that travel advisors will continue to earn commission at their current rates for the next two years without commission percentage changing.

“We truly appreciate the continued partnership and loyalty of our valued travel partners,” said Adolfo Perez, Carnival’s senior vice president of global trade sales and marketing.  “By maintaining our current commission tiers, we’re recognizing the important role that travel advisors play in the vacation-selling process while providing peace of mind knowing their efforts through 2022 will be compensated at the rate they have worked so hard to earn.”

Carnival had previously announced that commission tiers would be maintained through 2021, so today’s announcement extends this protection for an additional year.  Commissions are typically commensurate with sailed booking volumes at Carnival.

Today’s announcement is part of the line’s Onboard with You pledge which includes tools that support travel partners as a key success factor in Carnival’s previously announced plan of a gradual, phased in return to cruising.

First Steel Cut for New Carnival Celebration, Next Excel-Class Ship Set to Debut from PortMiami in 2022

The maritime tradition to mark the first steel cut for a new ship took place for Carnival Celebration at the Meyer Turku shipyard in Finland, as Carnival Cruise Line prepares for its next Excel-class ship that will debut next year.

A sister ship to the highly anticipated Mardi Gras, Carnival Celebration is scheduled to begin sailing from PortMiami in November 2022, part of Carnival Cruise Line’s year-long 50th birthday festivities.

Following the ceremony – which was attended by Carnival’s Senior Vice President of New Builds Ben Clement and Meyer Turku’s CEO Tim Meyer – work officially began on Carnival Celebration’s innovative offerings, many of which have made Mardi Gras one of the most anticipated ships in cruising.  Like Mardi Gras, Carnival Celebration will also include BOLT, the first roller coaster at sea, along with unique design features created specifically for this vessel, and new signature venues that will be specific to this ship.

“The steel-cutting ceremony marks the beginning of yet another exciting chapter for Carnival Cruise Line.  Not only will Carnival Celebration feature signature amenities from Mardi Gras but usher in a new era for Carnival Cruise Line with some special innovations created just for her that we’re sure our guests will enjoy,” said Christine Duffy, president of Carnival Cruise Line.  “We’re equally excited about Carnival Celebration’s role in our 50th birthday festivities which will serve as an unforgettable way for our fans to mark this exciting milestone in our company’s history.”

Carnival Celebration is scheduled to debut in November 2022 and will offer year-round service from PortMiami’s new Terminal F being constructed specifically for Carnival Cruise Line.  The addition of Carnival Celebration to Miami will maintain PortMiami’s position as the top embarkation port for Carnival Cruise Line.

Carnival Cruise Line’s New ‘Smile at Half Moon Cay’ Digital Marketing Campaign Celebrates Popular Private Island Paradise

Famous for its unspoiled beaches, excellent facilities and fun-in-the-sun activities so closely associated with warm water cruising, the private Bahamian island of Half Moon Cay is the focus of a new digital marketing campaign from Carnival Cruise Line.

The new “Smile at Half Moon Cay” campaign celebrates the natural beauty that awaits guests at the idyllic tropical paradise, which has been named Best Private Island in Porthole Magazine’s Readers’ Choice Awards for the past 20 years.

The creative concept employs a horizontal shot of the lush, crescent-shaped island to form a “smile” with images of guests relaxing in a 700-acre aqua-marine lagoon and surrounded by tag lines that include “Smile and Cheers to the Sunset” and “Smile with Your Toes in the Sand.”

Mardi Gras’ BOLT Roller Coaster Named Most Innovative New Cruise Ship Attraction in the First-Ever The Points Guy Awards

BOLT – the first roller coaster at sea featured aboard Carnival Cruise Line’s new Mardi Gras – has been named the Most Innovative New Cruise Ship Attraction in the inaugural The Points Guy Awards, which are selected from a team of editors from the popular travel site.

A marvel in maritime engineering, BOLT is an all-electric roller coaster encompassing an elevated track across Mardi Gras upper decks with 800 feet of exhilarating twists, drops and turns, including hairpin turn around the ship’s iconic funnel.  Riders can achieve speeds of up to 40 miles per hour as they enjoy views to the sea 187 feet below.

BOLT is the centerpiece of the Ultimate Playground which features a massive water park with three slides, a suspended ropes course, mini-golf and more.

Carnival Cruise Line Earns Three Travel Weekly Readers’ Choice Awards, Including Best Domestic Cruise Line for the Fifth Consecutive Year

Carnival Cruise Line was a big winner in Travel Weekly’s Readers’ Choice Awards taking home top honors in three categories – Best Family Cruise Line and Best Travel Advisor Educational Program for two years running and Best Domestic Cruise Line for the fifth consecutive year.

Carnival earned Best Domestic Cruise Line honors for its wide range of cruise offerings, with three- to seven-day sailings from convenient homeports along East and West Coasts and the Gulf of Mexico.

The line’s Best Family Cruise Line award was bestowed for its top-rated children’s programs and family-friendly offerings like Seuss at Sea in partnership with Dr. Seuss Enterprises, and amazing top-deck attractions that will be bolstered by BOLT the first roller coaster at sea on Mardi Gras debuting this year and Carnival Celebration in 2022.

The “Carnival Learn and Earn” program, which is a part of its popular Loyalty Rocks Initiative, was acknowledged for rewarding travel advisors for investing in their professional development with fun, informative video-based modules.
