Just like many other cruise lines, Costa Cruises has decided to extend its suspension of cruises through May 30, 2020.

Costa Cruises Extends Cancelled Cruise Operations

As the world still tried to deal with the pandemic cruise lines are extending their suspension on cruise operations including Costa Cruises. The Italian-based cruise line will now cancel cruises until May 30, 2020, which comes after the original suspension until April 3 and then the first extension until April 30, 2020.

Costa Cruises posted the following update:

Costa announces the further suspension of its cruises until May 30, 2020. Due to the
continuation of the emergency situation linked to the global pandemic of Covid-19 and with the continuation of containment measures such as closing ports and restrictions on the movement of people which do not actually allow to operate, the Company extends the suspension to the whole month of May.

Costa Crociere is taking steps to inform both travel agents and guests affected by the changes. They will be guaranteed a reprotection in accordance with the applicable legislation, which offers the greatest guarantee in this contingency situation.

With cruise port closures around the world and ongoing travel restrictions, it has become very difficult for cruise lines to operate anyway. It has been a struggle to get crew members back home and arranging flights for them.
