Seattle-based Holland America Line will be sending six ships to Alaska this summer. To capitalize on its leading position in the region, the cruise line plans to showcase its 70 years of experience, insider knowledge, and preferred access to the great wilderness that is Alaska.

Guests can embark on Holland America Line’s award-winning cruises to Alaska aboard Eurodam, Koningsdam, Nieuw Amsterdam, Noordam, Oosterdam and Volendam.

Itineraries sail roundtrip from Seattle, Washington, and Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada, or one-way between Whitter (Anchorage), Alaska, and Vancouver.

Unmatched Natural Beauty

If you are looking for a cruise that is entirely different from the Caribbean voyages, a trip to Alaska should undoubtedly be on the bucket list.

Alaska’s incredible glaciers and Glacier Bay National Park are best viewed from the sea. Most Alaska cruises include a visit to one or more of Alaska’s iconic glacier destinations: Glacier Bay National Park, Hubbard Glacier, and the Twin Sawyer Glaciers of Tracy Arm.

Most cruises tend to be just that; a cruise; Holland America has designed an entire itinerary besides the cruise that can be included. The line owns luxury railcar McKinley Explorer and the 60-acre McKinley Chalet Resort bordering Denali National Park.

The McKinley Explorer takes you from Anchorage to Talkeetna and onwards to Denali Park. Underway you will be able to enjoy stunning vistas of the Alaskan Wilderness.

You could even take a trip to the center of the Yukon Gold Rush, Dawson City. Here you can bask for a few days in the genuine explorer feel of the mining town. Itineraries are designed with local expertise to allow the maximum touring time and knowledgeable locals to provide a once-in-a-lifetime experience.

Seeing strong interest

According to newly installed Holland America Line President Gus Antorcha, the line is seeing large amounts of interest in the Alaska itineraries that the line offers:

“We’re seeing strong interest for next summer’s Alaska season as people anticipate being able to get out again, travel, and spend time with family and friends.”

“Alaska has a natural beauty and an aura that are unmatched, and it’s right in our backyard. If you want to have an immersive experience, see Glacier Bay, and go up to the Yukon, no one does it better than Holland America Line. We’re ready to return with plenty of options for everybody, from couples to multi-generational families.”

Alternative Cruises On The Rise

The Cruise industry has seen a rise in the last few years in cruises in off the beaten track areas. Of course, Alaska is one of the areas which has been popular for many years now. That being said, there is undoubtedly enough off the beaten track to explore.

For example, you could book a cruise to Antarctica, and don’t worry; you could do this entirely in luxury and style. Holland America’s Westerdam makes regular voyages to the White Continent, including cruising through the stunning Chilean Fjords, crossing the notorious Drake Passage, and ship cruising in Antarctica. Keep in mind; you won’t have the chance to get off the ship in Antarctica.

However, if that’s what you want to do, look to Holland America’s sister company Seabourn Cruise Line. If its glaciers and ice that you fancy, and not Caribbean beaches, then Holland America certainly has the itineraries and know-how to make your wishes come true.
